Hook Choral Society – Autumn Concert

21 Oct 2015

Hook Choral Society, under the musical direction of Nicholas Woods will perform a concert combining much-loved and familiar pieces with new and exciting contemporary music.

The concert opens with a wonderful piece by Haydn – Missa Brevis: Sancti Joannis de Deo.

The choir will next perform Stanford’s beautiful Three Motets for unaccompanied choir.

The first half of the concert will conclude with the introduction of two works by contemporary Latvian composer Eriks Esenvalds who has taken the classic hymn Amazing Grace and provided a new and fresh interpretation of the much-loved text. This is closely followed by Esenvald’s composition Stars that features a unique musical accompaniment.

Following an interval, the wonderful Fauré’s Requiem will conclude the evening.

Do come and help the choir celebrate these lovely pieces of music at 7.30 pm on 14th November,  2015 at  St John’s Church, Hook.

Tickets are available from Trees Newsagent in Hook or by calling 01256 882067.
